Browsing or navigating The act of moving through the pages of a Web site.

Click To “click” means top point to an item on your screen with your mouse pointer and then press the left mouse button quickly and release it.

Drag an Item This is done by clicking and holding the left mouse button while moving your mouse on the screen.

Email The exchange of electronic messages and files between computers that are connected to the Internet or other computer network.

Home page It is the main page of the Web site, usually the first page.

Links and buttons These are connections to other Web pages. Links are usually underlined text, and buttons can be a variety of shapes and sizes. You click on them to go to another Web page.

Online Being “online” means you are connected to the Internet. Online tools and resources are connected to an application that is only accessible via the Internet.

PDF (Portable Document Format) This is a type of document format that ensures the pages will look the same whether viewed online or printed.

Scroll This is when you move the screen up/down or left/right. There are usually scroll bars to the right and bottom edge of your screen. To move the viewable area, click and drag the scroll bar.

URL (Uniform Resource Locator) This is the “address” of a page on the Web. Every Web page has a unique URL. For example http://www.HOPbenefits.com is the URL for our site.

Visit This is when you go to a Web page.
